Synopsis
HOW DANTE, BY THE GRACE OF BEATRICE, WILL TRAVEL THROUGH ALL OF HELL, PURGATORY AND HEAVEN WHERE HE WILL ENCOUNTER THE SUPREME BEING.
DURING THIS EXTRAORDINARY JOURNEY, IN THE FIFTH CELESTIAL SPHERE OF HEAVEN HEAVEN OF MARS, DANTE IS ASSIGNED BY HIS ANCESTOR CACCIAGUIDA TO A PROPHETIC MISSION.

Director’s statement
It took me five years to read and study Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy.
I never thought about making a screen adaptation of this literary masterpiece until I met the Italian comedian Zelia Pelacani Catalano: Zelia simply was Beatrice, with this vital casting decision in place I began conceptualising the film.
The project HEAVEN OF MARS was born: adapting The Divine Comedy in its marvelous ancient Italian language, and above all else from the point of view of Beatrice….
For nine months, Zelia and I, along with Benjamin Balthazar Lebigre
(Dante) and Emanuela Luongo (Matilda) tirelessly studied the script to
perfect the comedians' lines. Throughout this process I filmed
rehearsals – finding the most fitting camera angles and shots – for the
final shoot.
Such a long-term process has led us to a finer scenario that I originally envisaged.
I managed the editing myself. Settling on a retro-futuristic look which
imposed itself during post-production.
HEAVEN OF MARS is my first feature film: produced, written, directed, shot, and edited in France.
Musician Niels Mestre composed the original soundtrack.

SINOPSI
> La Divina Commedia dal punto di vista di Beatrice.
Come Dante – per grazia di Beatrice – compirà un viaggio pericoloso attraverso l’Inferno, il Purgatorio, il Paradiso Celeste dove incontrerà il principio di ogni cosa.
Durante il suo viaggio straordinario, nel quinto cielo del Paradiso celeste, il CIELO DI MARTE, Cacciaguida (il trisnonno di Dante) investe il poeta di una missione sacra: raccontare agli uomini le cose viste durante la sua peregrinazione attraverso i tre regni dei morti, e rivelare all’Umanità – per la sua salvezza – la volontà divina.
Dante è così istituito poeta-profeta.
Beatrice convince Dante di far conoscere tutta la sua visione.
Dante ritornerà sulla Terra per compiere la sua missione.

NOTA DI REGIA
Cinque anni sono stati necessari affinché potessi leggere e studiare la Divina Commedia di Dante Alighieri.
Non avevo l’intenzione di adattare cinematograficamente l’opera di Dante - fino a che non ho incontrato l’attrice italiana Zelia Pelacani Catalano. - Zelia era Beatrice.
Cosi è nato CIELO DI MARTE, un adattamento in lingua volgare originale della Divina Commedia; e più precisamente un adattamento della Divina Commedia attraverso lo sguardo di Beatrice.
Durante nove mesi, Zelia ed io e successivamente in compagnia di Benjamin Balthazar Lebigre, ed Emanuela Luongo, abbiamo studiato il testo, provato ed effettuato le prove filmate. La trama si è affinata durante le prove.
L’aspetto retro futurista dell’insieme del lungo metraggio si è imposto durante la fase di montaggio.
CIELO DI MARTE è un film di 83 minuti che ho prodotto, scritto, realizzato, messo in immagine e montato.
La musica di CIELO DI MARTE è composta da Niels Mestre.
Questo film è il mio omaggio al sommo vate per il settecentesimo anniversario della morte di Dante.

SYNOPSIS

Comment Dante - par la grâce de Béatrice - accomplira un voyage périlleux à travers l’Enfer, le Purgatoire, puis au Paradis Céleste où il rencontrera le principe de toute chose.

Rapporter aux hommes ce que Dante a vu lors de son périple à travers les trois royaumes des morts et révéler à l'humanité - pour la sauver - la Volonté de Dieu.
Dante est institué poète-prophète.
Béatrice convainc Dante de porter au jour sa vision toute entière.
Dante reviendra sur Terre accomplir sa mission.

NOTE D’INTENTION DU RÉALISATEUR
Cinq années m’auront été nécessaires afin de lire et d’étudier La Divine Comédie de Dante Alighieri.
Je n’avais pas l’intention d’adapter cinématographiquement l’œuvre de Dante - jusqu’au jour où je rencontrais la comédienne italienne Zelia Pelacani Catalano. - Zelia était Béatrice.
Ainsi naissait le projet CIEL DE MARS, une adaptation en italien ancien de la Divine Comédie ; et plus précisément, une adaptation de la Divine Comédie du point de vue de Béatrice.
Durant neuf mois, Zelia et moi, puis en compagnie de Benjamin Balthazar Lebigre, puis en celle d’Emanuela Luongo, nous avons étudié le texte, testé les répliques, et effectué des répétitions filmées. Le scénario s’est affiné au fil de ces répétitions.
L’aspect retro futuriste de l’ensemble s’est imposé durant le montage.
CIEL DE MARS est un film français de 83 minutes que j’ai produit, écrit, réalisé, mis en image, et monté.
La musique de CIEL DE MARS est composée par Niels Mestre.
